New Comic Book Day [Open to All]
These days, Audrey can't buy comic books willy-nilly. Her camper's already a crazy mess as it is and a small space that doesn't really brook mile-high stacks of books, but Audrey still enjoys going into comic shops and going through the stacks to see if there's anything particularly interesting. Already, she knows she'll grab a couple blind-boxes because she loves her some super-heroes, maybe a t-shirt, but all in good time.
For now, she's just browsing through the trade paperbacks. Those are a little easier to justify since it's more condensed, plus she gets a little more bang for her buck.
"Hey, do you know if they have the new Captain Marvel trade yet?" she asks, vaguely in the direction of the cashier but open for any to answer.

She may be a human disaster, but she's a human disaster who's already done this rodeo more than once.

"One of Lara's what?" She knows the siren, has met her a few times through Les and played at Waters now and then. "And didn't we establish last time that I'd never pull a 'these are not the droids you're looking for?'"

"Well, that's good. Because I'd hate to go all 'but that all changed when the Fire Nation attacked' on you," Lincoln murmured, fire appearing at the tips of his fingers. Enough of a flame to be noticeable but under control enough that he wouldn't spark or catch anything else on fire. "I don't go full Azula either. Most of the time."

Right. Motor-mouth.
She holds out a hand, "Truce?"

"I move around a lot for work."
Shaking his hand, Audrey also runs hot. Maybe it's because she's part tropical fish or just a Miami-native, but Lincoln's own heat isn't strange to her.

"Two bands, DJing. You got a bar mitzvah, I'll play it. As long as I'm making music."

"Really? Don't think I've felt that way about anything, maybe about anyone's but not a thing. I love my job, I love being able to do something with my... talents that isn't destructive. It feels good, but it's not Everything." Lincoln murmured. He thought about Lee, because he couldn't imagine anything without her. And Roosevelt. His parents. His friends. They were the things he treasured, not music, and not even his games.

Audrey shrugs, not quite looking at him. She knows, well enough, how to be straightforward and honest. It's different being this candid.

“Do they? I’ve only ever met a few sirens who compel, most of the time they just tend to be super popular and freakishly good at water sports. And may or may not have cheated every time we raced in the water or played water polo, but that could just be my asshole best friend.” Lincoln replied, lifting his shoulders in a shrug. “If you don’t want to be that, then don’t. Not unless you have to be.”

"I want to make music. Not to hurt people, just because I love it."

"What kind of ballad are we talking about?" Lincoln asked, laughing before straightening when he realised she was being serious. Smiling at the honour, he nodded. "I can do that seriously if you want, fire prevention is a serious thing. I take my job seriously, if it helps us and helps you then why not."

Audrey pretends to think about it, pondering really hard. "Well. I've been trying to master the balalaika, so there'd be a lengthy solo."
no subject
"Awesome, glad to be of service. Hear let me give you my number, and the station number so you can get in contact with me." Lincoln said, getting a piece of scrap paper before scrawling his numbers and name on it. "What's a bala- yeah, I can't even pronounce that. And I'm a fan of lengthy solos."

"I'm a friendly guy, I'm just very serious about fire safety." Lincoln replied, blushing as she teased him. Reaching up to rub his neck, he picked up a couple more comics to add to his pile. "You'll have to show me sometime."
no subject
"Yeah, I'll have to borrow it from a friend again."
